形容词wall-to-wall,字面意思是“墙到墙”。来源于房间内的地毯铺法:从一边的墙到另一边的墙,也就是铺满了整个房间。所以,这个形容词的原意就是“铺满整个地板的”(completely covering a floor)。如今,这个词应用到了生活的其他方面,可以表示“布满整个区域”(present or spreading throughout an entire area)。需要注意的是,既然整个作为一个形容词,三个单词之间的两个连字符就不要忘记写上。
