　　固定表达blow sb. out of the water起源于19世纪的海军，最初的意思是，将敌方的军舰打成碎片。现在，通用来表示对对方的决定性胜利，即“defeat decisively”。和汉语中形容大败对方的词“片甲不留”、“落花流水”有些类似。电影《阳光小美女》中，长得并不很美的小女孩在选美比赛前突然有些退缩了，这句是爷爷给孙女打气的话。
