　　汉语中，形容一个人对别人的话妄加解释，有一个很生动的成语“添油加醋”。英文中，对应的表达方式也是一个动词词组“read (things) into...”，英文的解释是“give an interpretation to（a statement，a situation，etc．）；add more than is justified”，即“对（某种陈述，某个情况等）加以解释；自以为有某种含意”。所以，这个句子也可以翻译成“别对我说的话添油加醋”。

　　很常用的一句交谈口语，却很难说得地道。有两点需要注意：
　　第一，问句，不要按照中国人的思维习惯翻译成“How many degrees...”。欧美人更倾向于从强弱的角度区分镜片的等级。而且，实际上，无论是问句还是回答，degree这个词都很少出现。相似的问法还可以用：“What's the power of your glasses?”或者“What's the strength of your glasses?”。
　　第二，回答中的词“diopter”，是物理学的名词，准确的意思是“屈光度”。我们所说的眼睛度数和屈光度的换算比例是：眼镜度数=屈光度*100。在欧美发达国家，配镜被视为一种医学行为，而不是商业行为。所以，普遍地使用diopter这个词也就不足为奇了。
